Let’s do this. Let’s change the world.
For this vital role, we are seeking a skilled synthetic organic chemist to take part in an innovative Discovery Unit at Amgen Research Copenhagen with responsibilities including (but not limited to) hit identification, validation, and optimization employing our DEL technology platform, as well as design, synthesis, and purification of novel compounds for further optimization and ultimately potential clinical drug development. All work is done in cross-functional teams and in close collaboration also with our colleagues in the US.
You will help us drive innovation within the Induced Proximity Platform and more specifically with the discovery and optimization of compounds mediating a direct interaction between a target and an effector protein. We are focusing both on direct discovery of molecular glues and on the discovery of effector ligands later to be combined with ligands for the target of interest. Currently, most of our activities are focused on targeted protein degradation, one of the fastest growing drug modalities. In this exciting position, expect activities both within technology platform development and pipeline projects – all ultimately aiming at discovering and developing life-changing medicines.
The position will primarily involve chemistry bench work, but also data mining, design of new compounds, and interpretation of biological data. You will be working closely together with other synthetic organic and medicinal chemists as well as biologists and participate with your chemistry expertise in the process of identifying, synthesizing, validating, and optimizing hits from our DEL libraries to reach project and thereby company goals.
The employee will be a member of Discovery Unit 1 and report to Scientific Director Sanne Glad.
