Senior Research Scientist - Neurodegeneration

At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Protein Interactions Team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Senior Research Scientist (all genders) - Neurodegeneration, Full-time and permanent.
Your key responsibilities:
- Establish and implement readouts for lysosomal (dys)function using biochemical and cellular assays as well as Omics techniques
- Develop and supervise cellular assay systems based on iPSC neurons and neuronal cell lines
- Develop assays to address the effect of pharmacological as well as genetic perturbations on lysosomal pathways
- Leading cross-functional project teams to support preclinical drug discovery in the early drug discovery stages
- Plan, organize and supervise the work of technical staff
- Train and support staff in development of management and technical skills
Your ideal qualifications:
- PhD in biology, biochemistry or an equivalent Life Science and a minimum of five years professional experience (Pharma or Biotech)
- Strong background in lysosomal biology
- Profound experience with various techniques to manipulate and measure lysosomal function
- Experience with Immunoassays (such as HTRF, MSD, ELISA), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), fractionation assays and Omics techniques (Proteomics, Transcriptomics, Lipidomics, Metabolomics)
- Experience with analysis of large datasets would be a plus
- High level of understanding of protein biochemistry, protein folding and neurodegenerative disorders
- Substantial experience with assays based on neuronal cell cultures, ideally iPSC-derived cells
- Proven excellence in biochemical and cellular assay development and a mindset to tweak and optimize assay parameters until highly reproducible and quality-controlled assay results are achieved
- Track record of collaborating with other scientists
- High degree of initiative and flexibility, with the ability to deliver results under challenging timelines
- Good organizational skills and the ability to lead a team of scientists and research assistants
- Good English verbal and written communication skills, German advantageous
- Strong publication record and demonstrated experience with conducting independent research
