Pharmacosmos is looking to fill a vacant position as International Medical Director to excel in the cross field between Science and Marketing & Sales. The International Medical Director has the overall responsibility to ensure a liaison between Medical and Regulatory, Clinical R&D, Marketing and Sales. To act as medical advisor towards partners and own sales organisation concerning scientific documentation, competitive intelligence, medical and product education, medical enquires, and study proposals. Further to interact with KOL’s, investigators, professional associations and government institutions with purpose of strengthening the relations with and the knowledge about Pharmacosmos and our products and support the medical strategy and activities in the country.

The International Medical Director reports to the Head of Global Medical Affairs.

The workplace is in Holbæk, Denmark.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Core responsibilities and expectations

Medical & therapeutic area knowledge

  • Responsible for the scientific documentation concerning therapeutic areas/diseases, competitors, clinical standards/guidelines, medical and political environment.
  • Assess study proposals for Investigator Sponsored Studies and act as Pharmacosmos HQ Scientific Lead for the studies.
  • Develop and drive scientific publication strategy and lead abstract and manuscript development plan.
  • Conduct international advisory boards.
  • Responsible for internal and external training and education.
  • Participate and report back from relevant congresses.
  • Provide medical support to market access activities.

KOL development

  • Work in close interaction with international KOLs, scientific societies and patient organizations, seeking opportunities for collaboration and collecting information on developments in the therapeutic areas.
  • Responsible for following up on new scientific/commercial opportunities that arise through direct or indirect contact with KOL’s or other professional relations.
  • Support own sales organisations at customer visit when headquarter support is required.
  • Take lead in an international KOL development programme.

Medical marketing

  • Be medical responsible in cross functional partner marked teams for designated countries.
  • Provide medical input into the development of promotional communication materials and activities.
  • Responsible for medical review and signoff on promotional communications and activities in designated therapeutic area(s).
  • Contribute to the medical content in various medical documents, e.g., submission dossiers, product monograph and training material.
  • Planning of symposiums in the designated therapeutic areas.
  • Provide scientific support for company booths at conferences and meetings.

Travelling:

  • 30-40 travelling days per year is to be expected.
  • The company offers home office solutions and supports the opportunity to work from the home address as agreed with nearest Manager.

THE CANDIDATE

Education

  • Background: MD, PhD, M.Sc. in pharmacy or other relevant discipline in natural sciences is a requirement.

Professional experience of the ideal background

  • Extensive (5 years) experience from a medical affairs or MSL position within the pharmaceutical industry. Experience from a HQ position is preferred.
  • Experience within the area of nephrology, obstetrics/gynecology, osteoporosis/bone disease hematology or gastroenterology could be an advantage.
  • Former people management experience could be an advantage, when working with subsidiaries and partners.
