The Country Medical Director is accountable for leading the Hungarian medical teams and for providing a comprehensive and proactive medical service for supporting R&D, medical information, pharmacovigilance, market access and all relevant business functions as appropriate.

The Country Medical Director will be a key member of the CEETII (Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey, India and Israel) medical team supporting the Medical Director CEETII, as well as the communication between the WWMTs and the Hungarian medical teams. The Medical Director will also be a member of the Hungarian Operating Committee.

Key Role Accountabilities:

  • Ensuring country medical activities are aligned with CEETII/Intercon/WW strategies;
  • Implementing TA strategies and initiatives in line with the WW medical strategy;
  • Planning and implementing high quality medical educational activities, enabling HCPs best understanding on the Therapy Areas;
  • Supporting clinical trials;
  • Building and strongly developing a high performing team of Scientific Advisors (SAs), acting as a pool of talents for Intercon and other regions;
  • Leading a field-based medical team with ensuring external focus and priority on high-quality customer interactions;
  • Shaping the culture of the organization through coaching and counseling Scientific Advisors (SAs);
  • Working closely together with the CEETII/Intercon Medical Operations to maintain alignment across the region;
  • Setting specific goals and metrics and actively and continuously communicates them across the organization;
  • Actively promoting the culture of performance, innovation and constructive challenge;
  • Ensuring strong medical and scientific knowledge, as well as continuous training of Scientific Advisors (SAs);
  • Being a role model of ethical and professional behavior;
  • Monitoring compliance with all applicable BMS policies.

Role Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor or PhD in life science (preferred);
  • Working experience in Hungary, Hungarian language knowledge;
  • Minimum of 8 years industry experience, experience in international environment would be an asset;
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated leadership and people management experience;
  • Proven track record in developing people;
  • Ability to lead strategy development and execution;
  • Broad cross-cultural experience. Ability to “flex” across different types of cultures, work, complexities, business situations and matrix partners;
  • Experience in performing effectively in a matrix, cross- functional and team environment;
  • Demonstrated use of communication and change management strategies/tactics to influence new ways of thinking and working;
  • Project management skills;
  • Fluent in English (essential).
