The Position:

This role is part of a collaborative matrix team that partners closely across several functions within Global Oncology Medical Affairs, but not limited to, Regional Medical Affairs, Research and Development, RWE/HEOR.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Define Cooperative Group (CG) engagement strategy to deliver enterprise-level impact for scientific partnerships more broadly at Daiichi Sankyo
  • Leads the development of the Global Medical Affairs CG strategy above asset to deliver enterprise-level impact for scientific partnerships, in collaboration with cross-functional teams (GMAT, DAST, EVEREST EGTs, DRF) for select CGs. Responsible for managing budgets and securing the necessary resources for the CG strategy initiatives.
  • Leads CG strategic activities in alignment and collaboration with GMATs, DAST and R&D teams. Gains strategic and planning alignment across regions and functions and supports EGTs when applicable. Establish cross-functional interfaces to maximize the value of CG partnerships.
  • Serve as medical lead for select company-sponsored GMA evidence generating studies/projects
  • Manages all medical aspects such as study document development and drives execution for assigned projects in collaboration with GMA Clinical Operations and other cross-functional and regional stakeholders
  • Leads external engagement responsibilities with priority CGs to build DS brand awareness and understand their needs
  • Works closely and in strong alignment with R&D colleagues and regional/local medical affairs team members that can act as relationship management roles for CG
  • Supports the evolution of cooperative group partnerships through their life cycle, bringing outside insights into DS to shape the development of future partnerships, informed by an understanding of DS priorities
  • Tracks overall KPIs associated with Cooperative Group Strategy focusing on collaboration and data generation via CGs

Education & Professional Experience:

  • An advanced doctorate degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, DO or equivalent) in medical/scientific area is required as well as experience in oncology therapeutic area
  • 8 or more years of overall relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry, at least 4 years of experience in global function
  • Excellent knowledge of current clinical practice in Oncology/Hematology/Endocrinology or other relevant disease area
  • Understanding of medical activities (including scientific communications, medical information, MSLs, and HEOR), relating to the commercialization of oncology products
  • Demonstrates strong scientific expertise within assigned therapeutic area(s) within the franchise
  • Effectively manages activities and optimize resources and budget to meet business needs; have excellent project management skills
  • Operational knowledge and experience in prospective and/or retrospective study design and all stages of study conduct (Start- up, Execution, Analysis, Reporting)
  • Effectively engage external stakeholders across a broad range of audiences and activities such as evidence generation projects, publications, medical information and education, Advisory Boards, Scientific Exchange)
  • Provide training to internal customers
  • Expertly manage ambiguity and highly complex situations
  • Have excellent communications skills and ability to convey complex scientific concepts simply and effectively
  • Fluent English (oral and written)
