Pharmaceutical Development means finding the right solutions to improve patient’s usability following a holistic approach containing drug formulation and device development. In this position you interact with cross-functional interdisciplinary teams to find the suitable primary packaging system regarding drug stability and device functionality.

As Principal Scientist, you combine a strong pharma industry background with scientific expertise in the field of primary packaging development. Additionally, you are a creative driver in change, experienced in the development of physical or dimensional testing methods exploring cutting-edge technologies.

We are offering the exciting opportunity to join our Primary Packaging and Process Development group as Principal Scientist in Biberach, the company’s largest Research & Development site.

Tasks & responsibilities

In your role as Principal Scientist Primary Packaging and Process Development, you will be responsible for the selection of primary packaging components including process development and transfer to commercial lines on a scientific basis:

  • You will keep scientific and technical aspects on a state-of-the-art level;
  • In close cooperation with internal and external partners from both academia and industry, you will push scientific boundaries;
  • As team member or subteam lead you are responsible for giving guidance and supporting decision making in all aspects of primary packaging development for parenteral pharmaceuticals as well as the representation of primary packaging development in Research and Development Teams;
  • In your role you perform the selection and implementation of primary packaging components in close collaboration with internal and external partners;
  • Through your expertise you contribute to development projects focusing on drugs for parenteral administration;
  • You take over scientific leadership and documentation of complex interdisciplinary technology projects;
  • The scientific management of technology projects of high complexity as well as the consulting of technology project managers regarding specific project tasks complete your profile.

Requirements

  • PhD or completed engineering, pharmaceutical or natural science master's degree with several years of professional experience;
  • Several years of professional experience in the selection and development of primary packaging components for parenteral drugs as well as the management of (sub-)projects or team leading expertise;
  • Profund experience in pharmaceutical development of parenteral drugs, as well as knowledge in the development of new molecule formats (e.g. oncolytic viruses) is an advantage;
  • Relevant knowledge in the development of aseptic filling processes, as well as knowledge in physical testing of primary packaging components (e.g., material testing machine, general metrology);
  • Experience in working with external partners and suppliers;
  • Independent, well-founded and responsible way of working, solution-oriented thinking and flexibility towards changes;
  • Fluent in English, Basic in German.
