Almirall is seeking a head of toxicology to lead a team and provide scientific expertise and leadership to the preclinical safety assessment of biotherapeutics and new chemical entities.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Responsible for all the preclinical safety assessment activities in discovery, development and registration, ensuring that they are completed with high quality standards and within approved budgets and timelines;
Lead and manage a team of toxicologists ensuring the delivery of robust, high quality data;
Contribution to the interpretation and overall risk assessment of compounds in the R&D portfolio;
Provide technical and strategic input to the regulatory process and interaction with Regulatory Agencies;
Provide advice to Pharmaceutical, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs departments, as well as to other business divisions of the company, to support the safety/risk assessment of marketed products or drugs in regulatory development;
Support Business Development in- and out-licensing activities.
Education & Experience Requirements
PhD in toxicology, pharmacology or related discipline;
Fluency in English is essential;
In depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry with at around 10 years of experience in Pharma/Biotech drug development or in a CRO providing toxicological/preclinical safety assessments;
Experience in preclinical safety assessment of biotherapeutics;
Experience in dermatology would be desirable;
Record with team leadership is desirable;
Project management skills and experience in managing external vendors;
Capability to build and maintain professional networks;
Proven record with successful cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to effectively influencing non-expert stakeholders by becoming a point-of-reference for toxicological assessment in Almirall.
