Analytical Chemistry Scientist

Servier

Gif-sur-Yvette, France

About the role:

As part of our Analytical Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry team, you will play a key role in the characterization and analytical monitoring of small molecules, as well as the free-drug quantification of Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs). You will join an agile environment where technical expertise meets therapeutic innovation, at the heart of a high-level collaborative ecosystem.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Chemistry follow-up: Perform quality control of synthesized products, confirm purity, and determine molecular formulas and structures of obtained products based on exact mass and fragmentation data.
  • Perform complex Analyses: Ensure the quantification of "free-drug" within ADCs.
  • Method Development: Design and optimize robust analytical methods to meet the evolving needs of research projects.
  • Instrumental Park Management: Perform first-level maintenance and monitor equipment performance.
  • Technical Expertise: Operate daily on U(H)PLC and GC systems coupled with a wide range of mass spectrometers.
  • Interface and Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Continuously interact with the Spectroscopy platform to correlate mass spectrometry data with complex structural data.
    • Work in close collaboration with the Bioconjugation and Protein Sciences laboratories on ADC projects.

What we’re looking for:

Background:

  • Master's degree/Engineering degree/PhD in analytical chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a chromatography and mass spectrometry laboratory, in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology research sector.

Hard Skills:

  • In-depth expertise in LC-MS and GC-MS coupling techniques (various technologies: Q, QqQ, qToF, Orbitrap).
  • Solid knowledge of organic chemistry will be considered a major asset for interpreting results and collaborating effectively with medicinal chemists.
  • Language skills: Good command of English (written and spoken).

Soft Skills:

  • Autonomy, scientific rigor and curiosity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Flexibility, agility, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proactive spirit and a strong ability for teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
