We are currently looking for a Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team in our facility in Gent/Zwijnaarde. The candidate should have a high drive to generate qualitative results by means of executing hands-on lab work and coordinating research activities together and in tight collaboration with other members of the project team. This all happens in a dynamic, informal and stimulating environment where you and your colleagues work to reach the set goals and co-develop novel therapeutics to bring to patients.
Work description
The candidate will play a key role in the discovery, characterization, and optimization of novel therapeutic antibodies, while also contributing to the experimental derisking of complex and emerging biology.
Key responsibilities include:
- Scientific Leadership & Strategy: Drive project decision-making by mastering target immunobiology, positioning it within the broader immunology landscape, and designing robust in vitro and in vivo experiments in collaboration with internal and external partners;
- Data Quality & Communication: Ensure the highest standards of data integrity by meticulously planning, executing, interpreting, and reporting of experiments. Clearly present findings and insights to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders;
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Proactively engage with colleagues, external experts, and CROs to creatively address scientific challenges and advance project goals;
- Team Development & Mentorship: Foster a collaborative team environment by organizing work, setting priorities, and supporting the growth and development of co-workers and direct reports;
- Ambassador for argenx’s Immunology Innovation Program: Be a driving force behind immunology innovation. Continuously scout for novel disease biology, promising targets, and biological insights that could lay the foundation for the next argenx molecule. Play a key role in reviewing and assessing new collaborative opportunities.
Profile
- PhD with a background in immunology, autoimmune/-inflammatory diseases, or biological drug discovery is required. Experience in an industrial setting or with regular industry interaction is a plus;
- Experience with FcRn and FcγR biology as well as Fab, Fc and antibody format engineering is a plus;
- Motivated, quality-conscious scientist with a creative and analytical mindset, eager to work in the laboratory and contribute to a dynamic, fast-growing biotech environment;
- Excellent team player with strong communication and presentation skills and fluent in English, our working language.
