Role Summary

We are looking for a seasoned R&D leader to spearhead a newly established global initiative focused on cardiovascular technologies. This position will oversee cross-functional teams across multiple international locations and play a pivotal role in driving product innovation and development within a collaborative medical device environment.

Key Responsibilities Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the planning and execution of a global device development program;
  • Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and budget adherence;
  • Collaborate with clinical experts to gain insights into unmet medical needs and translate them into product concepts;
  • Ensure technical excellence and compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

Team Management

  • Directly and indirectly manage a diverse team including engineers, technicians, and a project manager;
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support their professional growth;
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and team meetings to drive engagement and accountability;
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and continuous improvement.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with global R&D counterparts and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing;
  • Identify and engage with external partners and suppliers to support product development;
  • Contribute to the development and protection of intellectual property within the cardiovascular portfolio.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all activities align with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements;
  • Maintain high standards of safety, ethics, and professionalism in all aspects of the role;
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestones effectively to stakeholders.

Candidate Profile Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline;
  • At least 10 years of experience in medical device R&D, with a strong track record of bringing products to market;
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, managing and developing engineering teams;
  • Prior experience with cardiovascular specifically embolization technologies is highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities;
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills;
  • Deep understanding of medical device materials and design principles;
  • Familiarity with intellectual property processes and global regulatory standards (ISO, FDA, EU);
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
