Main Responsibilities
- Pipeline & Tool Development: Create, maintain, and improve computational workflows and algorithms for analysing large NGS datasets, ensuring they meet quality and accuracy standards.
- Database Development & Curation: Design, build, and maintain databases for storing and accessing genetic variants and related knowledge resources.
- Data Analysis & Interpretation: Process raw NGS data to identify genomic alterations (e.g., variants, amplifications, deletions), differentially expressed genes, and other biological insights aligned with the project goals.
- Data Management & Quality Control: Implement processes for data organisation, storage, backup, and quality assessment at various stages of the NGS workflow.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensure compliance with data protection regulations, and support quality management systems.
- Collaboration & Support: Work with other bioinformaticians, lab scientists, and clinical staff to design experiments, interpret results, and implement bioinformatics solutions into hLab client driven capabilities.
Skills & Experiences
- A Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field is essential along with a strong understanding of genetics, genomics, and applications of NGS technology in the drug discovery field.
- Proficiency in designing, presenting and discussing NGS based solutions with clients to achieve project goals is also an essential requirement.
- Experience of working with and utilising Illumina instrumentation and associated workflows and products, combined with expertise in using Dragen software would be advantageous.
- NGS experience in the drug discovery field is desired.
