Vitry-sur-Seine, France

About the job:

This role will be based in the Global CMC Development group in Research & Development (R&D) and will provide advanced analytics and machine learning support for biological process development and manufacturing activities. The CMC organization is undergoing a substantial Digital Transformation, that is transforming our experimental workflows. The digitalization of the lab activities provides automated access to experimental data, contextualization and centralization of the data accessible to scientists across all CMC sites and functions.

With formal training in data science, chemometrics, or related field, you will have demonstrated expertise in applying advanced machine learning algorithms and multivariate analysis techniques to support process design, optimization and process monitoring activities for different biological product modalities (antibodies, nanobodies or gene therapies).

Main responsibilities:

  • As part of matrix project teams, develop and deploy multivariate statistical methods (PCA, PLS, etc.) and advanced machine learning solutions to extract insights from process and analytical data in support of process development activities;
  • Develop and deploy multivariate statistical methods (PCA, PLS, etc.) for real-time process monitoring and control;
  • Design and implement data preprocessing pipelines to handle high-dimensional data (structured and unstructured) and ensure robust model performance;
  • In coordination with process development teams and working closely with the Data Science team, design and analyze targeted experiments required to calibrate and verify model performance;
  • Develop and maintain reusable code libraries and analytical workflows using Python, MATLAB, R, or similar languages to ensure reproducibility and scalability of solutions;
  • Act as a change agent to drive the adoption of data-driven decision making and advanced analytics across the organization;
  • Document your work with rigorous scientific communication via technical presentations, reports and, when appropriate, scientific publications. For this position, domain knowledge in biologics process development and manufacturing is required.

Experience & Education:

  • PhD in Data Science, Chemometrics, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience, or MSc with 5 years of industrial experience;
  • Experience with multivariate statistical process monitoring (MSPM) in an industrial setting;
  • Experience with machine learning and deep learning algorithms for image analytics;
  • Experience with deployment of machine learning models in production environments, including familiarity with regulatory considerations for model-based decision making in GMP environments;
  • Experience with data management and integration from multiple sources (lab instruments, process historians, LIMS, etc.);
  • Prior work experience in an international environment.

Soft and technical skills:

  • Proven expertise in chemometric methods;
  • Strong background in machine learning algorithms;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, or MATLAB);
  • Experience with multivariate statistical methods (PCA, PLS, etc.);
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations for model-based decision making in GMP environments;
  • Beyond technical skills you will also have a solid track record in project management with an ability to communicate with transparency with your peers and with senior stakeholders;
  • This cross functional role will require intellectual agility to work across site/function boundaries in Sanofi’s global CMC organization. Excellent communication skills in English are required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English.
