For further expansion of our Research and Discovery team, we are seeking a motivated (Senior Associate) Scientist with a broad knowledge and experience in the field of immunology, autoimmune diseases or drug discovery. Experience with FcRn, FcγR or B cell biology is a plus. Experience in antibody engineering is a plus (VHH, bispecific antibodies, Fab or Fc engineering).

As (senior associate) scientist you will be part of a project team in which you work closely with colleagues and external partners to characterize and better understand the mode of action of a novel antibody therapeutic. You will use your knowledge, critical thinking, the scientific and patent literature and academic contacts to help define research plans and experiments and you will contribute to scientific publications, patents and reports. You will need to prioritize your workflow, efficiently use resources and follow challenging timelines to achieve the project goals. You should be able to work independently and direct the research and day to day responsibilities of others, preferably by helping the team of research associates on the work floor. Candidates must have good communication skills in English and should be able to work well in a team.

The job is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium. Daily presence on-site is expected.

Profile

  • Master’s degree with at least 5 years of industry experience and knowledge in immunology, autoimmune diseases, or biological drug discovery; alternatively, a PhD with expertise in one or more of these areas;
  • Experience in an industrial setting or regular interaction with industry is considered a strong plus;
  • Experience with FcRn, FcγR or B cell biology is preferred;
  • Experience in antibody engineering is also an advantage (VHH, bispecific antibodies, Fab or Fc engineering);
  • Motivated to work in a laboratory setting;
  • Quality conscious attitude;
  • Creative mind to critically analyze and solve scientific problems;
  • Excellent team player with focused attitude;
  • Able to operate in a dynamic surrounding of a fast growing biotech company with challenging timelines;
  • Fluent in English, which is the working language.
