Associate Scientist - Toxicology

As a member of the Toxicology team, you will develop experience and proficiency across multiple platforms including High-Content Imaging (HCS), Seahorse Analyser and Flow Cytometry whilst understanding how this data is utilised to support drug discovery and inform clinical development.
The Role
As an Associate Scientist you will be working within the toxicology team who work closely together to support, coach, and mentor one another. Working with collaborative partnerships ranging from small academic groups to large international pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies, it champions the use of new science and technology to provide tailored solutions aligned to the specific needs of each client. We continually push to grow and improve our scientific offerings through bespoke projects and continual assay development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Safety Toxicology screening assays such as High Content Imaging (HCI) for commercial activities
- Perform work following quality control procedures, within specified timelines, and within safety regulations.
- Assist in running and maintaining robotic systems to support high throughput processes.
- Prepare compounds, stock solutions and buffers.
- Routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Able to use initiative to solve problems and troubleshoot, with the assistance of other members of the team.
- Work autonomously as part of the team to deliver team’s priorities, with good organisation and communication skills
- Assist senior team members in assay development or efficiency projects, driving forward personal scientific understanding and development
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of BSc in a life science subject preferably with experience of working within a laboratory environment (such as a placement year or extended research project).
- Highly self-motivated and personable.
- Able to communicate effectively within a team environment.
- Able to organise daily tasks, to frequently work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
- Possess meticulous attention to detail, performing work to an exceptionally high standard, and within company and statutory safety regulations.
- Computer literate with previous experience using Microsoft Office and LIMS.
