As a key member of the UK & Ireland management team, the Sales Director (SD) will be responsible for leading the UK & Ireland Sales Strategy, including leading and managing a team of Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Disease Area Representatives (DARs). The KAMs are experienced field sales personnel with a focus on enhancing the diagnostic and service capabilities of top tier accounts for hereditary ATTR amyloidosis (hATTR). The DARs are field-based experts who drive patient diagnosis and referral objectives for hereditary ATTR amyloidosis (hATTR), in surrounding tertial referral centers. The SD is a field-based role reporting to the UK & Ireland General Manager.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales strategy for UK & Ireland
  • Lead Sales Go to Market Operating design and structure.
  • Ensure annual goals and tertial performance targets are effectively met and regularly tracked across the team.
  • Lead and coach KAM and DAR team in an efficient and productive manner to reach set targets and goals (national & individual).
  • Lead and enhance team Operational Excellence capabilities including Key Account Planning, Key Productivity Measures and Cycle Planning.
  • Accountable for the daily supervision of direct reports, including their development, succession planning, and completion of tactical goals.
  • Conduct performance reviews at the end of performance periods, with appropriate supporting documents.
  • Coordinate and execute tactical plans to drive Commercial success.
  • In partnership with training, develop and execute key development and learning curriculum.
  • Drive referrals into treatment centres and revenue growth through the successful implementation and execution of Key Account and territory plans.
  • Ensure annual goals and tertial performance targets are effectively implemented and regularly tracked across the team.
  • Support Business Operations Manager to forecast accurately and with accountability.
  • Partner with the Brand team to set operational strategy in alignment with Brand strategy and help interpret market trends and economic drivers.
  • Ensure cross-functional communication and alignment with KAMs, DARs, Medical, Marketing and Country Management.
  • Collaborate with General Manager and Regional Incentive Compensation manager to implement and track IC plans.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of agreed metrics for the KAM & DAR teams, including the adoption and optimal use of the CRM system.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of monthly metrics reports to Country Management as appropriate
  • Operates on daily basis in a compliant manner with local regulatory requirements
  • Ensures that both he/she and his/her direct reports operate at all times according to both internal Alnylam standards and the ABPI Code of Practice
  • Performs continuous monitoring to develop scientific knowledge of products and environment for themselves and their team
  • Reports adverse events and product complaints according to Alnylam internal pharmacovigilance procedures

Qualifications

  • A proven track record of Pharmaceutical Sales Leadership & Management.
  • Willing to travel 80% of the time
  • Rare disease experience preferred
  • Large and small pharma experience preferred
  • Computer skills: MS-Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experienced with CRM tools (Veeva experience preferable)
