We are looking for a passionate Laboratory Scientist with a focus on organic chemistry to strengthen our dynamic and international team of drug hunters in the Medicinal Chemistry department at our biggest research site in Biberach an der Riss, Germany.

In this role, you contribute to our multidisciplinary drug discovery teams across all phases of research, from hit finding to candidate delivery, by synthesizing drug candidates in the laboratory.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Whilst being responsible for the synthesis of molecules by using common and modern synthetic methods, you are capable to autonomously troubleshoot synthetic challenges;
  • You plan and execute multistep reactions using internal and literature procedures;
  • Your daily work includes working on several projects/substance classes simultaneously;
  • Purification of synthesised compounds with classic and modern technologies (e.g. MPLC, HPLC) is also part of your responsibilities;
  • Not only do you respect but also proactively contribute to the safety in the work environment;
  • You foster open and proactive communication by actively presenting your work within the laboratory, group and department.


  • Master’s degree in preparative organic or medicinal chemistry, or alternatively a Bachelor’s degree with several years of professional experience;
  • Sound knowledge of organic chemistry and mechanistic understanding of chemical transformations;
  • Comprehensive and state-of-the-art knowledge of modern synthetic methodologies as well as a basic understanding of molecular properties;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English as well as willingness to adopt a basic command of the German language.
