As Principal Scientist, you actively contribute to the development of breakthrough therapies that improves the quality of human life.

Use your experience to establish new technologies for the characterization of oncolytic viruses based on PCR and NGS.

Work in a highly motivated team in the analytical development department, which works in close collaboration with the USP/DSP department.

Establish the new therapeutic modalities to shape a sustainable project pipeline to ensure the long-term success of a global leading and family-owned pharmaceutical company.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you are responsible for the analytical characterization of oncolytic viruses and cancer vaccines as well as gene therapy approaches;
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for the identification and characterization of adventitious viruses via NGS supporting upstream and downstream process development;
  • With your strong expertise in sequencing techniques such as NGS/Sanger but also in PCR you ensure the development, implementation and if necessary the qualification of robust methods for toxicological and clinical supply characterization to ensure compliance with the pharmacopeia requirements;
  • You provide the release and characterization data and perform comparability assessments for ATMPs over the entire product life cycle and contribute to trouble shooting activities, analytical strategies and scientific publications;
  • With your scientific expertise, you ensure high quality submission documents for CTAs and BLAs/MAAs.


  • PhD in natural sciences or equivalent with several years of professional experience in the industrial environment;
  • Expert in molecular biology/virology; Ideally experience with oncolytic or cancer vaccine & gene therapy viral approaches;
  • In-depth knowledge in analytical methods to analyze virus preparations;
  • Proven expert knowledge in sequencing methods (NGS, Sanger and ideally dPCR) as well as PCR-based methods like RT-qPCR, identity-PCR;
  • Experience in mass-spectrometry and glycom-analysis is a plus;
  • Fluent in English written and spoken.
