Who we are

FGen is an emerging Swiss biotech company active in the field of biological engineering and high throughput experimentation. We collaborate globally with biotech companies for the development of efficient microbial strains using our proprietary nanoliter-rector screening platform for the phenotypic analysis of large cell libraries. FGen is located at the Technologiepark Basel, Switzerland, and we are looking for a research scientist (MSc or PhD) to complement our international team. Who you are

You are an open-minded team player that wants to actively participate in the development of an innovative biotech company. You have successfully concluded your studies and optionally your PhD in the field of biological sciences and you are willing to learn the business-related aspects of research projects.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in metabolic engineering using Synthetic Biology;
  • Extensive hands-on experience with molecular biology and microbiological methods;
  • Skilled in data analysis including the use of statistical methods;
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to set the right priorities;
  • Open personality with ability to clearly communicate scientific results and with high social competence;
  • Interested in the application of bioinformatic tools, such as AI, for strain development;
  • Previous experience in engineering of Bacillus sp. and/or filamentous fungi is a plus;
  • Knowledge in fluorescent assay development and flow cytometry is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for planning and execution of research projects;
  • Collaboration with co-workers to reach project goals;
  • Presentation of study results to collaboration partners;
  • Elaboration of project proposals for collaborations and non-diluting funding;
  • Supporting colleagues in ongoing troubleshooting and improvement of workflows.

You should have a valid working permit for Switzerland or be an EU/Swiss citizen.
