THE POSITION

Be responsible for a portfolio of small molecules projects, lead global, cross-functional teams, and provide a key contribution in advancing our development portfolio to assure long-term profitability of a globally leading and family-owned pharmaceutical company.

As a Project Leader, you combine a sound experience in pharma industry with expertise in a key area of nonclinical NCE drug development. Additionally, you have proven leadership skills, willing to represent your projects in an international project strategy team.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • You steer all nonclinical development activities with a team of up to 20 experts from Nonclinical Development, Research, Translational Medicine, Pharmaceutical Drug Product and Drug Substance Production, CMC Regulatory and Patents;
  • As team member in international Core Teams you present all nonclinical aspects of drug development, shape indications and development strategy of your projects and interact with regulatory authorities and external partners;
  • As Project Leader you are responsible for all nonclinical aspects of in-depth evaluations of licensing opportunities and of BI-internal proposals for new indications, formulations and combinations;
  • You frequently present the status, progress and critical issues of your projects at steering committees and request project decisions;
  • Your project plans comprise all relevant clinical, nonclinical and regulatory work packages for the success of your drug development projects;
  • The accountability for the timely provision of nonclinical contributions for an MAA/NDA submission dossier and other regulatory documents, is part of your responsibilities;
  • You lead or participate in strategic initiatives to improve the drug development process at Boehringer Ingelheim.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Natural or Life Sciences with longtime, international experience in the pharmaceutical industry and in one of the key areas of nonclinical drug development. A Doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, MD) is desirable;
  • Proven leadership skills either as project leader or as disciplinary lead in line functions;
  • Agile and entrepreneurial thinking paired with the ability to focus on key aspects;
  • Problem solver in a global environment;
  • Pronounced sense of urgency and accountability;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, optional also in German.
