Role Summary

In collaboration with the Global Logistics Leader, the Global Distribution Leader provides oversight on and direction to the Global distribution strategy, network, processes and activities within Zoetis and provides guidance to the Market transportation strategy and processes, they also provide oversight for distribution centres located in Europe which are managed by the Global Logistics team.

This includes physical transportation activities, management of third pary transportation and LSP vendors, all supporting compliance activities.

He/she ensures the definition, the deployment and the management of the processes to achieve best in class services to customers.

He/She ensures the distribution and warehousing operations comply with all relevant legal, quality, regulatory, trade, customs, safety requirements.

He/She is responsible for development and implementation of a distributon strategy that optimizes the cost to serve of the operations and drives year on year cost improvements with a high focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

He/She is responsible for developing and implementing a global cold chain packaging strategy ensuring best in class solutions are available to support all modes in transportation.

He/She is responsible for oversight of two Zoetis Global Distribution Centre’s which are located in Europe, one of which is an in house operation.

Role Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Market SCL teams to drive the deployment and improvement of the Zoetis and SCL Operating Models;
  • Manage compliance with relevant legal, quality, regulatory and safety requirements such as:
    • Zoetis Quality Standards;
    • Zoetis Operating Model (ZOM);
    • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Financial Audit;
    • Good Distribution Practices (GDP), Cold Chain Compliance;
    • Hazardous Goods, Controlled Drugs, Narcotics, Liquid Nitrogen;
    • Product Marking, Traceability, Product Integrity.
  • Contribute to the definition of the network strategy and design, and physical flows management focusing on Transportation & Warehousing;
  • Establish Service Level Agreements with Sites, Market Logistics and Service Providers;
  • Ensure best in class service level to customers, smoothen the logistics process to provide flawless order and delivery service;
  • Drive development to information system to provide visibility of load status throughout the supply chain;
  • Manage and monitor operational transportation, documentation (e.g.shipping notifications) and custom processes;
  • Manage relationship with global distribution & LSP service providers, manage tenders for purchasing of transport and or warehousing services;
  • Develop and deliver a systematic cost savings program, to deliver year on year cost savings to transport & LSP operations;
  • Develop and deliver a transportation services procurement strategy including classification of providers based on strategic importance & value;
  • Develop and implement cold chain packaging strategies with Zoetis external supply partners, this will be in collaboration with our colleagues in Global Quality Operations, Global External Supply and Global Strategic Sourcing;
  • Ensure optimization of physical and logical flows, transport modes with the transport service providers;
  • Develop and manage Global Distribution team and ZOM Logistics team and other Logsitics teams to achieve SCL goals;
  • Ensure talent acquisition and the training, coaching, and development of his/her team.

Management and supervision

  • Transportation & Cold Chain Team: total of approximately 4 people;
  • Zoetis Belgium Logistics Team: Total of approximately 7 people;
  • Zoetis Griesheim DC Team: Total of approximately 14 people.

Candidate Requirements

  • Master's degree with a specialization in logistics, engineering or management;
  • More than 7 years in a similar role in a pharmaceutical industry;
  • Proficiency in English and preferably also in Dutch, French and or German;
  • Relevant Supply Chain & Logistics experience within a fast paced, high volume logistics environment preferably in close link with Business;
  • Track record of leading functional teams to deliver business objectives;
  • Experience in best in class cold chain packaging;
  • Change Management Experience and ability to lead any change process;
  • Experience in facilitation of team development by providing structure, training and time to all team members;
  • Ability to work with different regions and cultures, in an international environment;
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable, resourceful with a relentless focus on outcomes;
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
