As senior scientist, you combine cutting-edge scientific expertise in immunology, in vitro pharmacology, and cancer biology. In addition, you are highly creative, ready to team up with other scientists to drive your ideas forward.

As a Head of Laboratory Cancer Immunology within Discovery Research Germany in Biberach, you will lead several bench scientists actively contributing to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that ultimately bring hope.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Use your scientific creativity and curiosity to drive new ideas and turn them into better medicines for patients in a culture of passion and scientific excellence;
  • In your new role, you will lead an in vitro laboratory focused on identifying new projects in cancer immunology and turning them into successful first-in-class medications;
  • The establishment, validation and implementation of state-of-the-art methods to identify and characterize these concepts and to interview the underlying biology and state-of-the-art experimental models in cancer immunology is also part of your tasks;
  • You will conduct initial biomarker studies to identify patients who will benefit from these novel drugs;
  • Furthermore, you will supervise and support two technical assistants and students;
  • With your strong expertise you will proactively identify new combinations for cancer immunology, also with oncolytic viral cargoes;
  • You will also promote coordination with internal partners at global research locations and multidisciplinary project teams and present scientific data and results at internal and external meetings.


  • Master´s degree or PhD. in Biosciences, with strong experience in immunological methods, tumor biology, virus biology and/or pharmacology;
  • Several years of Postdoctoral experience and sound scientific track record;
  • Hands-on experience in the design, optimization, execution and interpretation of state-of-the-art immunology assays and technologies;
  • Knowledge of tumor immunology, pharmacology and virology is advantageous;
  • Excellent leadership skills, communication and presentation skills;
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills – capable of working in multi-disciplinary and cross-site teams.
